Application Process

Students with less than 75 hours

Students who have completed fewer than 75 hours (at the end of the semester they apply to the Major in Psychology) should complete the University's online application process on iCampus. Log in and click on the Academics tab. Scroll down to Academic Applications and click on Apply to My Program. On the Apply to My Program website, select Psychology in the Submit a New Application box. Follow the directions for completing the application. If help is needed, click on the HELP box in the upper right corner for a PDF file of instructions that will download to the computer.

Applications for the Major in Psychology are accepted and processed only during September, February, and May through July. Students completing their admission requirements for the Major during the semester they apply can mark their applications as "hold for semester grades." The Hold applications will be reviewed and processed after grades are posted for the semester. Applicants are notified of their application status through their Illinois State e-mail account.

Students with 75 hours or more

The Department of Psychology rarely admits students who have completed 75 hours or more to the Major in Psychology. We want psychology students to have spent at least two years in the undergraduate psychology program before they graduate from Illinois State. Exceptions to this 75-hour policy have been made, but they are extremely rare. Students who are granted an exception may not be able to complete their studies and graduate in four years.

Students who have completed 75 hours or more must contact Ms. Raz Steward by e-mail or call (309) 438-5293 for an appointment to discuss the 75-hour admission policy.
