Scholarships and Awards
The Department of Psychology has several scholarships, fellowships, grants, and awards. Departmental awards are presented at the Psychology Department Awards Ceremony held during the spring semester. Laura Berk Undergraduate Writing Award
Award: $500
Award Criteria: Open to students admitted to the Major in Psychology who have written an empirical research or expository paper in APA style.
Nominations: Psychology faculty may submit nominations to the department's Awards Committee for students who have written appropriate papers. Nominated students must complete the application process to be considered for the award.

Walter Vernon Scholarship in Psychology
Scholarship: varies from $300 to $900
Scholarship Criteria: Open to students admitted to the Major in Psychology who have completed 30-59 hours by the spring semester, who demonstrate a high level of academic achievement, and who have earned an 'A' in both PSY 110 (or PSY 111) and in an introductory writing class
Nominations: Students will be nominated by the department based on their academic records. Nominated students must complete the application process to be considered for the award.

Diversity Advocate Award
Award: $500
Award Criteria: Open to students amitted to the Major in Psychology who have demonstrated a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and/or safe environments on campus and/or in our community.
Nominations: Interested students should complete the application process.

Edwin A. Payne Memorial Award
Award: varies from $200 to $500
Award Criteria: Open to students admitted to the Major in Psychology who have excellent academic records and involvement in campus and/or community activities
Nominations: Interested students should complete the application process.
